Great Britain’s Men’s Foil Team - including ZFW's Richard Kruse and James-Andrew Davis - finished sixth at the Rio Olympic Games, after losing 45-43 to Russia in the quarter final. The team, which also included Laurence Halsted and Marcus Mepstead (reserve), then went on to the placings matches, where they beat Egypt 45-35 before losing 45-38 to China, finishing sixth overall. ZFW's Richard Kruse came so close to winning Britain's first fencing medal for over 50 years, narrowly losing to Russia's Timur Safin 15-13 in the Bronze medal bout of the Men's Individual Foil. A courageous fight-back from Richard led to a nail-bitingly close ending, but the Russian held on to grab the Bronze.
