Alex is Crowned SPOTY

CONGRATULATIONS to ZFW's Alexander Peter Lloyd for being chosen as the Sports Personality of the Year by the Malvern District Council. Alex had a tremendous year finishing Number 1 in GB U-20 rankings and winning the BRONZE medal in World Youth Team Championships - contributing hugely to the first ever medal for Great Britain in this event.

The ZFW family are very proud of you Alex!!!

I encourage British Fencing to continue its efforts to develop a strong group of junior men's foilists and cadet fencers. I strongly believe that this group needs the opportunity to train at higher levels, be challenged and stretched if GB is to have a strong fencing future.

As inspirational examples from Canada and the USA: 17-year-old Canadian foilist Sean Grant has already experienced fencing in 5 Senior World Cups. The current senior world #1 Alexander Massialas started fencing in Senior World Cup events at the the age of 13!
